Z. asked me, “Why is Ms. Julie in charge?”  I told her Ms. Julie and Ms. Paula are in charge because we’re the grown-ups.  Thinking she would make the connection to adults being “in charge”, I asked, “Who’s in charge at your house?”  She thought just a second, and said, “I think my mom is.”
